@hyde mmm weird. Not on my side...
But anyway, the look and feel + images and git tools on kitty make me forget the memory usage 😉
(Ps: je réponds en anglais parce que la question était en anglais hein)
@metal3d
I tried it today 80Mb for every term opened... That's how tmux can help a bit 😅
(Oui je sais ... Les questions en anglais touchent un peu plus de monde c'est pour ça )
@hyde tmux is very cool, but I only use it on remote servers. Kitty takes 130Mo on my computer with 6 tabs. That's weird that you need 80Mo per terminal.
Kitty shoul use only one process, even if you open "other windows".
Anyway, as I said, the memory footprint is not so high for the long list of cool behaviors, tools and displays I'm using. That's my usage 🙂
@metal3d here mine consumption. Terminator, as urxvtd, has only one process ... not the case with kitty.
@hyde that's very weird... I only have one process and many kitty terminals opened. Maybe a version step or something made with fedora package. I also tweaked kitty configuration to release scroll back limit. But anyway, using kitty avoids me to use many other tools to see images, split diffs, and so on... So the memory usage is compensated in my daily use.
@hyde OK mystery resolved ! You probably open new terminal by using a "command" (e.g. press icon=>new window, or Super+type "kitty"). This is not what I do. I use "CTRL+SHIFT+N" on an already opened Kitty terminal. So the new window is linked to the first one. This is why I don't have many kitty process.
@metal3d Using awesowewm here and was indeed relaunching a new window each time but not with the Ctrl-Shift-N combination 😉
@metal3d
Kitty consume way too much way memory IMHA
