I don't know if you realize it, but my desktop computer dates back to 2009. Since then, I've just added a bit of RAM (24GB), changed a hard disk (to SSD) and found a second-hand RTX3070.
All in all, it cost me 1400€ - for 14 years of existence. It's a Core i7, and allows me to do , , music and gaming. 14 years... And it competes with today's PCs...

I've had 3 laptops in the meantime, less powerful, which have lasted between 5 and 6 years. I bitterly regret having bought them. So I've decided to put a bit more money into the latest one and make sure :
- repairability
- hardware upgrades
The craziest thing is that it cost me 20% less than a Mac, and it's going to last for years. helping, of course. I'll never be fooled again by a low price and a tempting design. I'd rather have my ugly, adapted cuckoo clock than a breakable gadget.

@ekimia at this time it's a Lenovo IdeaPad with rtx3060. It's not the best but I can change the HDD, upgrade ram and it's easy to change the screen and even the mother board. Maybe I made a mistake buying it, but it works very well for months. I only needed to add more RAM.
Only one regret, the screen resolution which is, nowadays, a bit small. I've changed font scaling to gain space.
